CONVENIENT LOCATION

Downtown Delaware

Downtown Delaware, a Main Street America™ Coordinating Program, is the downtown revitalization resource center within the Department of State, Division of Small Business (formerly the Delaware Economic Development Office – DEDO).

The resource center focuses on downtown revitalization opportunities and strategies, with particular emphasis on business development, vacancy reduction, and proactive planning for selection and placement of retail goods and services in commercial business districts throughout the state. Downtown Delaware’s work aligns fully with the four key areas Main Streets have been successfully using as a guiding framework for over 35 years:  Economic Vitality, Promotion, Design, and Organization, known collectively as the “Main Street Four Points”.

As a Main Street AmericaTM Coordinating Program, Downtown Delaware is part of a powerful, grassroots network consisting of 45 Coordinating Programs and over 1600 neighborhoods and communities across the country committed to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development.  The mission of the Downtown Delaware resource center is to provide Delaware’s historic downtowns, communities, and small businesses with tools to revitalize their commercial districts, increase entrepreneurism and innovation, and enhance quality of place.
